1222 metres above the fjords, high on the Hardangervidda plateau and without any road connection, Finse is a place where nature is always close. Whether you are stepping off the train, heading out on skis, or exploring the glacier, the landscape shapes the experience here, and reminds us of the responsibility we have to protect it.

Experiencing nature, gently

We believe in low-impact experiences and slower travel. On Finse, there are no large ski resorts or heavy infrastructure, instead, we offer activities like mountain skiing, cycling, snowshoeing, guided hikes, and glacier walks that allow guests to experience the mountains in a quieter and more respectful way.

We also encourage “leave no trace” travel and care for the surrounding nature.

Small choices that matter

Hotel Finse1222 is certified as a Miljøfyrtårn (Eco-Lighthouse) business, and we work continuously to reduce our environmental footprint through energy management, waste reduction, responsible purchasing, and good working conditions for our staff.

In our restaurant, we focus on seasonal ingredients and producers from Hallingdal, Hardanger, and nearby regions whenever possible, while also working actively to reduce food waste.

A place connected by train

Finse is only accessible by train, bicycle, or on foot. For many guests, the journey itself becomes part of the experience.

Travelling by train is also one of the most climate-friendly ways to travel, making a stay at Finse a chance to experience the mountains in a slower, more conscious way.
