A Train-Free Weekend in Finse | 4–7 September

There are no roads to Finse.

No cars pulling up outside the hotel. No delivery vans around the corner. Almost everything that comes to us, guests, food, clean laundry, post, supplies and all the little things that keep a hotel running, arrives on the railway.

We are, quite literally, dependent on the train.

And every now and then, the trains need a little attention too.

From 4 –7 September, planned work on Bergensbanen means train traffic will be disrupted. And for a little while, Finse will become a little more isolated than usual.

We thought: why not make a weekend of it?

Come up to Finse before the railway closes and settle in for a weekend where there really isn't anywhere you need to be.We’ll light the fireplace.

Head outside for a walk. Read a book or knit with a view of Hardangerjøkulen. Have a long breakfast. Play a game of chess. Find a cosy corner. Join us for movie night. Or just enjoy the slightly unusual feeling of being tucked away at 1,222 metres above sea level while the railway takes a break.

By Monday, the trains will begin rolling past the hotel again.

Until then, we'll be right here. ❤️
