3 reasons to stop in Finse instead of cycling straight through

It's easy to think of Finse as just another stop along Rallarvegen, but we welcome you to spend just a little more time here if you can! Whether it's for an hour or a night, there's plenty to enjoy before continuing towards Myrdal and Flåm.

1. Stretch your legs (the glacier is closer than you think)

Hardangerjøkulen, Norway's sixth-largest glacier, is visible right from the station platform. If you have a little extra time, take a walk towards the glacier, or book a guided glacier hike if you'd like to get even closer. It's one of the things that makes Finse so special.

2. Refuel before the next stretch

Rallarvegen isn't a race. Stop by DNT Finsehytta or Hotel Finse 1222 for lunch, a cup of coffee, homemade waffles, or dinner before continuing your journey. Taking time to enjoy the views is all part of the experience.

3. Stay after everyone else leaves

Once the afternoon train departs and the cyclists continue towards Flåm, Finse becomes wonderfully quiet. Spend the night, enjoy the sauna, take an evening stroll, or join us for a refreshing morning swim and coffee by the bonfire before setting off again.
